MARTIN DAVIES-

THE MILLION POUND DROP:

HOW I ALMOST MADE IT IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

WOLVERHAMPTON ART GALLERY

Saturday 27th January - 7.35pm

50mins

VOLUNTARY DONATION

For Martin Davies, being a teenager in the 80s meant one thing; an obsession with popular music and synthesizers in particular. Career options in the West Midlands were limited: flirtations with juvenile crime and a pre-Kick Ass spell patrolling the streets of Moxley in a Ninja suit were followed by spells as a baker and a devil-may-care roofer. Then, the first fall: a death-defying 25ft plunge that ultimately leads to his creative reinvention as a student, musician and actor.

A chance meeting will propel him headlong into the international offices of the most powerful music moguls in the world, managing a singer-songwriter of genius. How will these Black Country boys navigate the opportunities that come their way during the end days of the traditional music industry?

Join Martin as he tells the bitter-sweet story of a working class boy lifted by art, and daring to transcend his background by aiming for the stars. Followed by a Q&A.
