DVD premier  of Surnamed Africanus a play written by local playwright Jefny Ashcroft  filmed by Phil Nicholls (and students) of Wolverhampton University. Thirty minutes with professional direction and acting. The film tells the exciting story of the young slave of the Molineux household, George Africanus. Many of the play’s facts are true and can be seen through documents to be found at the City Archives. FREE EVENT. Suitable adults and older children.

 

Other short films relating to George Africanus will be shown throughout the day. Two filmed plays are for young children and there are two DVDs of Jefny Ashcroft and Norma Gregory taking about George from their researches.
