This acclaimed production of William Shakespeare’s play about the destructive power of jealousy was nominated for Best Revival at the 2013 Olivier Awards. Adrian Lester and Rory Kinnear jointly won the Evening Standard Best Actor Award for their performances in the iconic roles of Othello and Iago.

Othello, newly married to Desdemona – who is half his age – is appointed leader of a major military operation. Iago, passed over for promotion by Othello in favour of the young Cassio, persuades Othello that Cassio and Desdemona are having an affair.

The cast features Adrian Lester as Othello and Rory Kinnear as the duplicitous Iago. National Theatre director Nicholas Hytner directs this gripping take on Shakespeare’s timeless tale of envy.

Screenings are delivered via Drama Online, a Bloomsbury Digital Resources platform available to university, school, and public libraries.

This screening is available for anyone who is a member of City of Wolverhampton Council Libraries, if you are not a member, don't worry, you can join on the day of the screening or when booking your place.

Running time of Othello is 3hrs 5minutes. This includes a 5–10-minute comfort break.

This screening is a Theatre Nation Partnership in association with Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and City of Wolverhampton Council Libraries.
