At our meet the publisher event, an esteemed panel of local publishers will guide you through the dynamic regional scene. Join us for a candid discussion on the current challenges faced by both writers and publishers. Here's a chance to glean invaluable insights into the intricacies of getting a book published. An afternoon of inspiration and knowledge awaits!


Panelists:


Steve Pottinger (Ignite Books) has been the driving force behind Ignite Books since it was first created with the aim of making sure writers received fair payment for their craft. He’s a writer and poet himself, and can often be found travelling the country performing his work.


Marcia M. Spence (Macris M Publishing House LTD) is the director of Marcia M Publishing House Ltd. The company grew from her bed to reaching and serving over 200 authors across the UK, enabling them to publish their books in five years. Marcia M was dubbed The Authors Midwife by her clients because of the tender care and encouragement she gives them to birth their books. Not only that but reaching the masses with her inspirational messages of hope through her blogging and speaking.


Jane Commane (Nine Arches Press) is director and editor at Nine Arches Press, an independent publisher of poetry based in Warwickshire, West Midlands. Jane is also Co-editor of Under the Radar magazine, and a poetry tutor and mentor. Her poetry has featured in Staying Human (Bloodaxe) and The Guardian. In 2016, she was selected for Writing West Midlands’ Room 204 development programme and awarded a Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship in 2017. Her collection, Assembly Lines (Bloodaxe, 2018) was longlisted for the Michael Murphy Memorial Prize.


Garrie Fletcher is one third of Floodgate, Birmingham’s newest independent publisher, which published Digbeth Stories to critical acclaim last year. Floodgate champion new and essential writing from Birmingham and the West Midlands. Garrie also writes short stories. He has been published by Unthank Books, Blackheath Books, 3 AM Magazine, Dostoyevsky Wannabe, MIR Online and others. Mantle Lane Press have published two books, Night Swimming, and Submerged, and his short story, ‘Electricity,’ in their Songs of the Elephant Man anthology.
