Emma Wright talks about the process of publishing poetry. This talk is essential for budding poets looking to get their work out into the wider word and there’ll be chance for you to put your questions to Emma about the publishing world.
Emma Wright founded the Emma Press in 2012 and works on all the books with her friend from school, Rachel Piercey. Emma designs and illustrates all the books, as well as running the business, and she likes to publish writing which is moving or funny, and ideally both.
The Emma Press is an independent publisher based in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham. The Emma Press is dedicated to producing beautiful, thought-provoking poetry books and recently started a children's poetry book list. In 2015 they received a grant from Arts Council England to travel around the country with Myths and Monsters, a tour of poetry readings and workshops aimed at children aged 8+. They are often on the lookout for new writing, and run regular calls for submissions to their themed poetry anthologies and poetry pamphlet series.
