Ballads and Broadsides - Making the Tale Rhyme

A Workshop in Balladeering techniques led by John Edgar

In this fun and hands-on workshop, writer, storyteller, musician and rhymester John Edgar shares a range of strategies for creating rhyming tales.  After a practical introduction, participants will have the opportunity to create and share their own stories in rhyme, either adapted from old familiar tales or original verse narratives.  All participants will have the opportunity to work collectively and/or individually.  Suitable for adults and children (aged 9+)

 

Duration of workshop: 90 minutes

 

Maximum number of participants: 20

 

(John Edgar is a writer and storyteller working extensively in schools and the wider community.  A celebrated balladeer, he has also produced a book and CD of original rhyming stories for schools, “Telling Tales”.  He has written extensively for young people’s theatre, the professional theatre and BBC Radio 4.  John also performs a range of storytelling shows for older audiences in theatres, arts centres and festivals across the UK and beyond.)
